Information about MEP(L)

Flight Training

The MEP(L) is an additional rating that can be included in a PPL(A) or CPL(A) license. Qualifications to perform flights on multi-engine land piston airplanes.
The entitlement is valid for 12 months from the date it is entered into the license.

Theory:

The training time is 8 hours and ends with an exam at the ATO.

Practice:

The practical course for the MEP (L) qualification according to the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) lasts for a minimum of 6 hours flight:

  • 2 hours 30 minutes of training with an instructor in normal operations
  • 3 hours 30 minutes of training with an instructor on emergency procedures and asymmetry flights

Benefits of having an MEP (L) certificate

The benefits of this rating are twofold. First, it is a necessary step towards the ATPL license. Secondly, it allows you to fly multi-engine planes.
